It barely fit and I'll be thrilled if it lasts for another 5 years, although the warranty is only for three. I changed it to 1111111112 and typed in DIEHARD. I really don't think it cares about Mfg or serial #, but I guess you put those in to keep the data current. Using OBDeleven Pro, I updated that I now have a "Fleece" battery type (not EFB) and increased the rating from 61 to 70 Ah. My smart VW was clueless that it had a new battery. I then unclipped the battery charger cables. I also used some small rags around the cable connectors just to be sure nothing sparked in the process.Īfter the new battery was in, I attached the positive cable first and then the negative. You can tie off the negative one to keep it out of the way but keep the charger connected. I have a slow 2 amp setting battery charger, and connected both ends to the cables in the car before I removed the cables, and kept them attached the whole time. I also bought battery terminal protector (small packet gel) and coated the terminals and connectors. ![]() I guess I'll continue to let gravity hold it in place, but the new battery is a tighter fit so I hope that's a good thing. My car has neither the heat shield nor a clamp to hold it in place. I just replaced my old AutoCraft GOLD EF H5 battery (12/17 date and I think it was a CPO replacement) with a Die Hard H6 AGM battery. This is what I did to my 2015 GSW TDI (Mk7) this evening. ![]() Putting this up here in case it is helpful for someone else down the road.
